  This position will be under the supervision of the Jewell County Appraiser. This position is responsible for maintaining and updating real estate ownership records. Performing technical duties including measuring, classifying, and recording is required. Under the guidance of the County Appraiser, this employee keeps KSCAMA files and records current through the annual appraisal cycle. This position will answer the telephone and assist walk in customers with concerns and questions as directed by the department manager. The employee in this position must have the ability to work independently or with a partner, and exercise initiative and good judgment. This position also requires inside and outside work in all weather conditions. It is approximately thirty percent inside and seventy percent outside. This employee should possess strong communication, public relations, and organizational skills. This employee must comply with all countywide and departmental policies and procedures.

FUNCTIONS

- Measures houses and outbuildings, and records information;

- Performs agricultural land reviews;

- Locates property by parcel identification numbers;

- Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.

Experience: One year of similar or related experience is preferred but not required. 

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. This position requires a valid Driver’s License.

Technical Skills: This employee must be able to operate a motor vehicle and other departmental equipment with a high level of accuracy and efficiency. The ability to read and interpret maps, manuals, reports and written instructions and strong organizational, communication and public relations are required. 

Sales Verification: Verify sales assigned. Investigate the circumstances

surrounding each sale to determine the validity of the sale according to generally

accepted appraisal principles and Property Valuation Division guidelines.

Supervision: This employee works with frequent supervision from the Jewell County Appraiser and has no supervisory duties.

Personal Relations: Daily contact with the general public, co-workers, and supervisory personnel is expected.

Working Conditions: Some adverse working conditions exist within this position. Exposure to all types of weather conditions is expected.

Physical Requirements: Some manual labor including extensive walking and bending is required while performing inspections of property.
